SLRC Weekly Update

Dear Compatriots:

Greetings to everyone!  I trust that everyone has had a great week and I'm sure we are all thankful for the weekend break!  We, as usual, have been very busy at the Southern Legal Resource Center.  We have some wonderful news, so I will get right to it!

Lawrence County

We are pleased to announce the local counsel has reviewed the complaint and we will be filing the complaint Monday morning!  After much working and waiting the day has finally arrived!  The lawsuit is against Lawrence County School Board and Dexter Rutherford the Superintendent.  This case is just beginning and we will keep you informed of all the details.

Castorina

Local counsel for Timothy Castorina, Earl Ray Neal, worked with Kirk this past weekend on preparing for the trial.  They analyzed defendant's testimony and looked into which questions to ask when choosing a jury (voir dire.)  Also at the SLRC's request, the Kentucky Division of the SCV has produced a guide to Confederate issues for the state of Kentucky.

Hays County

An alternative dispute resolution was filed Monday, July 8th. Settlement terms are due on August 7th.  We will be working on this in the next few weeks and will keep you posted.

Plaques

An amendment was filed this afternoon naming the current Governor of Texas, Governor Perry, as a defendant in this case.  Also Randall Riley was named as another defendant in this case.  Riley is the new Executive Director of the Texas Building and Procurement Commission which is the successor to the General Services Commission.  Discoveries are also being prepared for remaining defendant's and we anticipate on finishing up their depositions in August.

New Calendar Prices

One final break in calendar prices has been issued.  Five dollars will get you the most educational calendar you will ever encounter.  Each day of the year records a significant event that took place during The War.  These are wonderful to keep even when the year is over.  Send $5 to PO Box 1235, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

We at the Southern Legal Resource Center realize that a lot of you are busy taking vacations and enjoying the summer, but your donations are desperately needed.  The summer time is when we stay the busiest yet the funds come to a grinding halt.  We cannot continue without your help!  We cannot fight this war with mini coffers!  Your tax deductible contribution is needed today!!!

PLEASE SEND YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION TO:

SOUTHERN LEGAL RESOURCE CENTER
PO BOX 1235
BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC 28711

Sincerely,
