SLRC Weekly Update

Dear Compatriots:

Hello friends!  I truly hope that everyone has had a wonderful week.  It is hard to believe that it is October already!  I am very excited to inform you about this week's dealings.

Cherokee County

Kirk and I attended the Cherokee County School Board meeting Thursday night.  WOW!  There were about 100 parents, students and supporters at the meeting!  Three parents spoke out against the ban and four individuals from heritage preservation organizations spoke out.  All seven individuals did wonderful jobs conveying their message.  Three families signed up for the SLRC to represent them legally.  Other families are expected to sign on as well.

H.K. is considering changing his walk route so that he may march through Cherokee County.  This is still in the works!  Stay tuned!!

Confederate Autumn:  A March Through Dixie

As most of you know H.K. will be marching to Texas to raise funds for the SLRC and the SCV Heritage Defense.  He plans on leaving Monday, October 14, 2002 and will arrive on Robert E. Lee's birthday on January 19, 2003.  From there H.K. will march to the Hays High School Stadium in Buda, TX (an additional 30 miles.)  H.K.'s goal is to raise $2 million dollars.  The SLRC has been accepting pledges in any amount for the trip.  Supporters may wish to pledge at least $1 per mile for a certain leg of the journey or hopefully the whole 1500 mile journey.  For further details visit the website at: www.southerncaucus.org/hkedgerton.htm

We are thrilled to announce that the Dixie Outfitters has made a generous pledge of $1 per mile!!  Dixie Outfitters will also be donating clothing to H.K. for his trek.  Also the Pennsylvania SCV Division has donated $150 dollars towards the march!  We are grateful for these generous donations but we need others to step forward and donate!!

FAA Case

We will soon be filing a complaint in federal court on this case.  Two air traffic controllers were asked to remove Confederate emblems from the workplace in Florida.  We will keep everyone up to date as to when we file!  Stay tuned!!
