SLRC Weekly Update
Dear Heritage Supporters:
This has been quite a great week here at the
Southern Legal Resource Center. H.K. Edgerton is quickly marching
through Alabama and is scheduled to reach Mississippi by next Tuesday.
March Across Dixie
H.K. is making rapid progress! He
is overwhelmed by all the love he has received thus far from black and white
folks. He has done a lot of teaching and hugging along the way
too. You may purchase one of the flag's that H.K. has carried on his
march. Below I have listed the dates (and towns) of flags that are
still available.
October 14 Asheville, NC to Hendersonville
October 15 Hendersonville to Tuxedo
October 16 Tuxedo to Travelers Rest, SC
October 17 Travelers Rest to Easley
October 18 Easley to Clemson
October 19 Clemson to Toccoa, GA
October 21 Toccoa to Cornelia
October 22 Cornelia to Gainesville
You may have a flag with a $50 donation to
the March Across Dixie.
Also we are proud to announce that the video
coverage of the march cannot be put on one tape. There is just too
much to cover, so it will be four hours long, available on two tapes.
You may reserve your copy of H.K.'s March Across Dixie with a $50 donation.
Louisiana Division
Challenge: The Southern Legal Resource Center is challenging the
Louisiana Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans to raise
$10,000. If the LA Divison accomplishes this worthy achievement, the
I.N. Giffen Camp #758 will formally present to the LA Division the
Regimental Flag of the 7th Louisiana Infantry (Pelican) Regiment. This
flag was hand sewn and painted in 1986 after considerable research.
The flag is constructed of 4 blue silk satin panels hand sewn together and
fringed with 100 year old gold bullion fringe. Blue silk ties attach
the flag to the pole. On one side is hand painted in oil a Mother
Pelican feeding her young and the words "Pelican Regiment."
On the other side is a circle with 11 gold stars enclosing a laurel wreath
enclosing the words: "CSA Seventh Louisiana." The flag comes
with a two piece oak and brass pole with halbered top and gum rubber
cover. The flag cost over $1000 in 1986 and was carried by the
recreated Regiment that traveled to Manassas by train for the reenactment in
1986. It was also carried for the 140th anniversary Manassas
Reenactment. Mrs. Frank Douglass 2nd VP General of Metairie and other
UDC ladies helped to pay for the flag. It was presented to the Texas
contingent of the 7th Louisiana as they boarded a train in Houston for the
Manassas event and again presented in New Orleans at the Columns
Hotel. Let the contest begin!
Dupont
A claimant has been added to the DuPont
case. A claim will be filed on behalf of the claimant and filed with
the EEOC with in the next few weeks.
Castorina
Ten (10) Castorina packets have been mailed
out to parents who are busy fighting for their children's rights. We
are happy to arm parents with such ammunition!
