SLRC Weekly Update

Dear Heritage Defenders:

This has been a wonderful hectic week.  I hope that everyone enjoys the long weekend and has a great Memorial Day! Neill, Kirk and Brigade Commander, Rick Wilkerson are traveling to the GEC meeting in Elm Springs, TN.  Let me share a little of what has been taking place at the Southern Legal Resource Center.

Dupont

Seven DuPont employees in the Richmond, VA plant are bringing a suit against their employer for the banning of Confederate symbols in the workplace.  Confederate symbols were banned three years ago.  The dedicated Confederates in Virginia have held a vigil once a week outside the plant property.  Many of these employees are members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and are making a firm stance for their heritage.  We are due to file a complaint on behalf of the employees by the end of next week.  We are interviewing for local counsel without which we cannot file.  Please consider pledging to help this case in its early stages.

Richard Smith

The magistrate in this case has issued a report and recommendation dismissing our national origin claim.  This was expected and we are currently working on filing objections.  As you may recall, Smith was placed on probation after displaying Confederate symbols at the Savannah River Site and having racist food in his office.  We will keep you posted as changes take place.

French Interview

HK, Neill and Kirk were interviewed by a French TV crew this week.  The group is doing a documentary on Confederate symbols.  They were amazed that in the land of the free and home of the brave Confederate symbols are banned in some places.  During one point in the interview they asked if they needed to take back the Statue of Liberty.

I just need to ask you this. How far will it go?  Having these nice Frenchmen here served as a rebuke.  How far will we let it go?  Our rights are SLOWLY being taken away.  The political left says they are "teaching tolerance."  Where is their so-called tolerance when dealing with Southern heritage issues?  Tolerance is a one way street to the political left.  We are fighting a war.  Fighting a war for the right to be proud of our heritage and our ancestors.

For the Cause,
