SLRC UPDATE:

Honoring the Southern
Legend
H.K.
Edgerton, a black member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, was a
prominent figure before and during the funeral procession.
More than an hour before Thurmond's
casket was removed from the State House, Edgerton stood on the south
steps holding a large Confederate flag.
"I came to pay my respects to an
honorable American and Southerner and a great man," said Edgerton,
dressed in a Confederate uniform.
Later, the Asheville resident fell in
line behind the funeral procession as it moved up Sumter Street.
After a couple of blocks, he was urged to walk on the sidewalk, and
agreed.
