SLRC Weekly Update

Dear Heritage Defenders:

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week. We do have a bit of good news to report and I will get straight to it!

Castorina Fall-Out Continues

Logan County schools in Kentucky will possibly be added to the growing list of bloodless victories because of the favorable Castorina ruling.  Let me give you a bit of background information. Some time ago a student was tragically killed that was a current student at Logan County schools.  The young student frequently wore Confederate flag shirts.  To honor this student's memory, many students decided to wear Confederate flag shirts to school. Logan County school officials told students they were not to wear any more Confederate symbols. SCV members, Don Shelton and Fred Wilhite have been vigorously working to ensure that Castorina is enforced in Logan County.  We are proud to announce that a verbal agreement has been reached to allow shirts back in and we are currently working on a written agreement. We will keep you posted as details unfold.

SCV National Convention Activities

I would also like to remind you to come to our booth at the SCV National Reunion in Asheville.  We look forwarding to seeing some of you again and others for the first time!  Also plan to attend our Continuing Legal Education Seminar on Thursday, July 31st from 3:00-5:00.  The NC Bar Association has accredited the course for attorneys but of course, the seminar is open to EVERYONE. There will also be a breakfast honoring HK Edgerton's March Across Dixie.  If you haven't had a chance to meet HK, this would be a wonderful opportunity!  WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!
