SLRC Weekly Update

Dear Heritage Defenders:

I do hope that everyone is enjoying this somewhat cooler weather! Things may be cooling off outside but they are really heating up at the Southern Legal Resource Center. We have been tremendously busy this week working on pressing deadlines.

FAA

We have drafted our Response to the Motion to Dismiss in our FAA case. SCV plaintiffs Neal Parden and Robert Fanucci have filed suit against the FAA because the FAA in Jacksonville prohibited Parden and Fanucci from displaying Confederate symbols in the workplace. This is a very important case to the state of Florida, for all states in the 11th circuit and more importantly all federal employees.

The feds have claimed that federal employees have no first amendment rights, therefore, we have had to sue defendants in their individual capacity! If anyone should be held to enforcement of 1st Amendment rights, IT SHOULD BE THE FEDS! This is the type of underhandedness that we are facing daily. Please support this case today!

Thumb Up for Dixie Stickers

We still have these great little stickers for sale. These are great for SCV camps for fundraisers. The SLRC is fighting in 5 Federal lawsuits for your right to honorably display Confederate symbols in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama taking on multi-national Corporations like Burns International Security, Bechtel and DuPont, as well as the FAA and Lawrence County Alabama. We are also helping school students all across Dixie over the banning of Confederate symbols in their schools. Our opponents have millions in their war chest to fight us and the SLRC is facing financial exhaustion. Discovery is beginning in several of our cases and we must be prepared to pay for witness deposition and travel costs. It gets expensive fast.

Our support is suffering from combat fatigue. Support for non-profit charities is down all across the country. We need YOUR help and we need it now!

Here's how you can help right now!

The Southern Legal Resource Center has returned the popular "Thumbs up for Dixie" stickers for SCV Camp fundraising, which will also help the SLRC.

The stickers should retail for $1 each, with a $50 donation your Camp would make 50 cents per sticker. Several Camps are using these stickers to raise money for their own Camp's heritage fund. The stickers can be viewed on our website: www.slrc-csa.org and scroll to the bottom.

The prices are as follows: (shipping not included)

  • 100 stickers/$50 donation
  • 200 stickers/$100 donation
  • 500 stickers/$200 donation
  • 1000 stickers/$250 donation
  • 2500 stickers/$500 donation

All donations for stickers are tax-deductible. To order please email or call:

Dupont

We are currently searching for local counsel in our DuPont case. We have seven plaintiffs (five of which are SCV members) that have brought suit against DuPont. DuPont has prohibited all employees from displaying heritage symbols in the workplace. Please pledge for this case today.

As you can see in the two case listed above, the groups we are fighting (the federal government and a multi-billion dollar company) have UNLIMITED resources!  They don’t have to send out weekly emails asking for grassroots support. The Southern Legal Resource Center is suffering like all non-profit organizations. We strongly depend on people like you sending in your contributions.

 REMEMBER YOUR PLEDGE IS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!

PLEASE SEND YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION TO:
